HB 2216

Read through the report this morning, and had an opportunity to read this bill on line. Not sure of the intent of this bill? Will this decrease the "civilian assist" responses to facilities, or is it a plus for the city that they can go after them for any responses? The risk vs reward comes to mind. Call CFD, help someone out of a wheelchair and back to bed, or have some overweight CNA's try to lift that same person, drop him/her, now you have a patient with a head injury that later dies and litigation against the institution? Has any member been denied his/her disability claim as a result of an injury at a facility? The optics for CFD aren't good supporting this, and why is it being celebrated as something? What about the motto "We're There When You Need Us", it will have to be updated to "Except if you're a disabled taxpayer in a nursing home".
