Probably the complainers were all union cops. Exerising the police union culture as the stations all feel the need to suck up to the vindictive industry that feeds their newscasts. Sure enough, the complainers were just being vindictive as a way of keeping the TV stations from never looking at police behavior with a critical eye.
Fact is, covering a cop funeral by every local station isn't abt news judgment, its about establishing local goodwill in a competitive marketplace and staying on the cops' good side.
1 station covering it would have been just fine to serve the public. Media spend too much time watching and reacting to each other! Replies: There have been no replies.
