Have to say that I watched a lot of the LIV event today as I wanted to see how these guys played a course that I am very familiar with. Outside of the constant music and the shameless self-promotion, it wasn’t too bad.
Don’t think the course showed well on tv. It’s been dry here recently and some of the greens looked burnt, even though they rolled well.
I’d have to guess this might be the largest crowd so far for a LIV event…Orlando turned out… at least it seemed so. Koepka looked very good heading to Augusta.
The distances they were hitting the ball were unbelievable. Every par 5 was reachable with irons. Interestingly the approaches into the par 4s were similar in yardage to what I’ve seen. The problem is that their tee boxes are about 100 yards behind the white tees! That and their hitting wedges from 150 yards and not 6 irons.
Years ago I shot 70 on this course from the next to back tees, birdied each the four par 5s and had two bogeys. Lots of fairways and greens. Father Time and a rotten brain have fixed that. Getting old sucks! Replies:
