The television writers represented by the Writers Guild of America are striking, because they have failed to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
From “Happy Days” and “Cheers” to “Seinfeld” and “Friends,” situation comedies have been telling the same three jokes over and over for fifty years. They have dirtied up those same lousy jokes a bit, but they really haven’t changed a damned thing.
Why would the AMPTP keep paying those losers to keep telling the same crummy old jokes???
