’At least THAT is over with!’

The exasperated thought hangs in the back of her mind as the darkling mare draws herself from the rolling surf and trots out of the reach of the grasping waves. A snort of frustration exhales from her lungs as the coffee colored woman pauses to shake as much of the salt water from her skin as possible. With any luck, she would not have to deal with any more water anytime soon.

Dark lashes flutter as the arabic woman turns her attention now to the land beyond the dunes of sand. Even from this distance, she can scent the lush birch and oak trees. After so long on Atlantis, even the sharp scent of pine and fir trees were a welcome exchange. Instead of their usual position against her skullcap, the dark points of her cupped ears rise forward with renewed anticipation. She had managed to survive a mire of wet sand, a torrential downpour, a late night swim in the ocean and by the gods all of it had better be worth it!

With a kick of her heels, Abstract lunges quickly away from the sand and dunes of the shore. Time in the Harbor taught her how to navigate the twisting, winding paths littered with unturned roots and even in darkness, she found herself able to avoid tripping over the worst of the obstructions in her path. Low hanging branches reach towards her but the dark woman avoids them to the best of her ability, choosing to travel down the well trampled pathways instead of ventured into the dense unknown shadows. It does not take long for the dark trail to part and a moonwashed meadow to stretch wide before her. The mare cannot help but to sigh in relief. ”Thank the gods!” Grant it, the Harbor had not been all that bad but this girl had missed having the sun warm her back and the taste of green meadowgrasses. The pungent aroma of clover and rye grass is a welcome relief and the mahogany mare sighs happily as her gaze travels across the scene that spread before her. Although she tells herself she has never been one for companionship, the long lonely existence in the Harbor has left her aching for someone other than a child to converse with. Dark eyes find the familiar shapes of horses dotting the meadow but unlike herself, most seem content to slumber under the soft glow of the moon… most.

A flash of moonlight across pale skin draws her attention first and though shadows and dark skin hide it, a smile finds its way forming upon her dark lips. ’Ahhh…’ Not one but two strangers remained awake in the early hours of the moonlit night and without a thought otherwise, the darkling mare shifted her wandering steps towards them. The pale mare with her thick and lustrous curls grazes comfortably beneath the moonlight, unhindered by the approaching stallion. Dark like herself, the white stained stallion has his attention so set on the pretty girl that her own approach seems unnoticed. Not that she minded in the least, she was not here to gain accolades or turn heads anyway…. Not now. Keen ears catch the remnants of his greeting, Kvasir of the savanna…. ’oh great… another one.’ the voice within groans and she resists the urge to roll her eyes but the smile, coy and mischievous as ever, remains a fixture upon her lips.

”My, My…” she begins, approaching the pair at a leisurely pace. She halts a few paces from the duo, her dark gaze roaming unabashed across the stallion before settling on the pale mare. ”What a pretty thing you are. Must take a lot of effort to keep the twigs from knotting themselves in those thick curls.” she purrs. Abstract cocks her finely dished muzzle towards Kvasir, her dark eyes gleaming with amusement, ”I bet it is a struggle to keep the boys at bay.”
