Re(1): SCRIPPS becoming a REAL embarrassment

This has happened in whole industries all over the country. First, all the livery stables, saddle making craftsmen, horsebreeders--THANK YOU Henry Ford.

The advent of the the INTERNET ended the futures of movie theaters, causing the layoffs of booth moneytakers, boys with flashlights escorting moviegoers tot heir seats.... then VCR stores and now.... SURPRISE SURPRISE, local affiliate news departments chasing cop stories!

I read a book 40 years ago, warning me to watch out for future consequences of change. The Book was called "MEGATRENDS" by a guy named Naisbitt.

He foretold that companies don't HAVE to go out of business, but they do need to assess the changing environment and ADAPT.

His best example was the railroad industry.... once the king of transportation....it lost its passenger trains to the airlines and then most of the boxcar trains to over the road trucks. UNTIL they developed CONTAINERS that could be towed efficiently by tractor trucks and Piggyback cars that carried truck trailers. THEY're BACK!!

What can affiliate broadcasters do now that satellites have eliminated the need for long lines program video distribution from New York to every city in AMerica?
