I am glad you saw Finger Lakes in the glory days !
Similar to jai alia it is hard to believe what it was and is now.
Interesting fact - Ross Morton was the track announcer at Finger Lakes and also at Gulfstream Park until he passed away in 2008.
$ 300 is a nice hit and was probably a weeks pay back then at your tender age (I was in 5th grade).
I can not remember the last time there was a 10 horse field there. Many races had 12 horses. Now it is 6 horses and 2 are scratched.
I have never been to Pierce's. It looks like they are still open (bit no website).
Had a pretty good day yesterday at Finger Lakes. Caught a couple of nice exactas and a trifecta early and held on for dear life at the end.
We spent our modest winnings in air conditioned comfort in the racino (and then some).
