Re(2): More On The Sinking Scripps Ship

I been sayin that for years, but that just pisses people off. Much as I loved radio when I was young, I don't miss those tiny paychecks a bit.

It was, tho, better than stinking of taco grease from my part time job putting myself thru school back in the day.

While my voice was never the skill I learned I could apply to others, I use my writing and typing skills every day... it was very helpful to learn how to compose and key at 60 words a minute. I've seen many people struggle to complete a complete sentence and after years of writing radio copy, its as easy as breathing today.

I used to say broadcast didn't create useful skills outside a studio, and that really isn't true. I said the same thing being forced to take Latin at SM schools, but turns out I use it every day--though mostly for small but frequent things.

Young people today are being screwed over by newthink coming from teachers. They don't offend kids, dont' teach correct english. If they did, black students woudln't know how to speak Eubonics but they're allowed, and that's why they can't get jobs in banks and are judged by their inability to speak educated English. Heard an anchor the other day say "OFF-ton" instead of "Off'n." I got nailed in junior high for not knowing already that in "often", the T is SILENT!

And she's making a small market mistake as a freakin ANCHOR. That should have been beaten out of her before she even finished puberty!
