Note: this is a generic URL and, unfortunately, newer results and match articles over write older ones. Section Paloise Pelote, as for the last few years, has no sense of the importance of an archive of match articles, hence no inclination to create one, which would be very simple to do. Such is life.

The favorites fall in Pau, by Raymond Cazadebat
We were betting on a success of the Palois Olharan and Portet on Friday at the jaï-alaï in Pau for the opening of the Master I of the Cesta Punta Pau-Cup 2023. The refurbished striking wall and lighting gave the game a more lively dynamic, delighting players and public. The young Biarrots Johan and Gorka Sorozabal, will make better use of the new characteristics of the wall, more mobile, reactive and powerful than the Palois. Logically with a minimum of faults, they won the first round. Olharan and Portet had to fight to take second on pain of direct elimination. They showed a more combative face, managing to contain the Biarrots and "slam" them with winning points.
On Saturday, reigning world champions Erkiaga and Lopez, in opposition, reconsidered their strengths due to the injuries of their respective partners. Barandika replaced by the Mauléonais Kévin Ithurria associated with Lopez and Erkiaga teamed up with Julen Del Rio replacing Etchéto definitively for the Summer-League season. The Souletin and his phenomenal back will shine in the first set before being caught at 9 and then being overtaken by an Erkiaga who is still as precise and efficient in all his game actions. Del Rio played with his striking power with an extraordinary arm speed putting the favorites at fault. The second round mastered by Ithurria and Lopez left the opponents at 6. We will bring out the big game for the decisive round with long sequences punctuated by superb technical gestures, incredible defenses, high attacks. At 3-2, nothing was certain and the suspense was total; a fault by Lopez which let the ball slip away and Erkiaga found the conclusion on a last Pique ball lobbing his opponent. Erkiaga and Del Rio will reunite with the Sorozabal brothers for the July 28 final.
