I don't think I've ever heard Pete describe himself as an "arch conservative," and I'm not sure where you got that label for him.
Pete might lean "right," but his show is a good source of LOCAL news and opinion. If you think some of his opinions are too conservative, do what I used to do with the Kansas City Star: I would read their Local News Section and their Business News Section, and ignore/skip their Editorials and Opinions.
In fact, I would even read The Star's Editorials and Opinions, so I'd know what liberals were thinking. When The Star would give their recommendation of who to vote for, I'd do the exact opposite.
