PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

I love you more in my head

I love you more in my head
but I’ll love you better when I’m dead

Shadows on the mountain take a long time to catch up to dusk. With its elevation and few trees to block the setting sun, the Western faces of the Peak catch a few extra minutes of full sunight each evening. It is in this warm golden glow that Naydra spots the copper shape of Starscream picking his way through the foothills.

She may have been able to live happily without ever calling herself a warrior or a sister to anyone, but the Peak surely had its benefits, and Naydra was beginning to adapt to her new life here. She begins her descent to meet Starscream on the greener slopes below, quite smug that she had been able to see him from so far away.

“I was wondering when you’d come,” she murmurs as she slips around the spire of stone that subtly marks the shallow cave in the side of the mountain. From her view at the top, this would be where the path twisted out of view for a time, hidden by the ridges and outcroppings of stone and twisted trees. Starscream is tucked in the back, his copper coat gleaming ever so slightly in the shadows where the rays of the setting sun do not quite reach. He presses to her, and she basks in the strange sensation of letting someone be so close to her. Starscream is bold, but not stupid; he knows the consequences of their proximity, and of her temper, and he finds the rewards to be worthy all the same. Naydra respects him for this, and her temper does not flare as he sidles close, nibbling at her jaw. Her inaction, in its own way, is also a kind of arrogance; she knows he wouldn’t dare.

Her scent has changed since last she saw him, and so has his; no longer do either of them carry the heavy, moist scent of the Thicket. Starscream’s scent is not unfamiliar to Naydra, but she does not like how different it has become. The longer they stand together, the more they will mingle, and Naydra presses herself possessively against him to encourage the feeling of rightness that comes with entangling their earthy and sweet perfumes.

“You can follow me up now, she purrs, equal parts enticing and commanding. “No one will dare try to keep you from me. But — if we want to make this sunset, tonight, we must hurry.” Her eyes glitter with adventure. “The path is treacherous, and it grows dark. It will be dangerous.” She slips around him toward the edge of their little hiding place, and glances over her shoulder once before bounding recklessly into the dying sunlight and up the mountain path.
