but darling, what if you fly?

Usually, the whole angry-girl routine was enough to make her would-be aggressors back down, if only because her usual aggressors had been her (mostly) well-meaning, if annoying, older brothers. And they didn't back down because of her, but because of how she'd run to her mother or father and bring them down on those she didn't like instead. Sonorae didn't have much of a bite to her, but she could come alive in defense of her daughter.

Here, though, there was no one to protect her except for herself. Not even Faline was here to back her up this time. This realization kept her from bulldozinging back into his space, all lithe rage and aggression, and kept her hooves planted firmly in the dirt.

-But I could ask you the same question, he answers boldly, and her lips peeled back from her teeth in a defiant sneer, her muzzle wrinkling at the edges. "But you didn't." Of course, she fully understood that his implication was for her to answer with her name, not with a rebuttal, but she wasn't feeling very charitable at the moment. He had done nothing to earn her respect or cooperation, and spite demanded she not give in first. "Did you?"

The parting taunt was probably unnecessary, and she saw the consequences of it coming even as the last syllable left her lips. The massive red beast was reaching for her again, his intention plain in those deviously dark eyes. Roux made to dart away, although she was not fast enough to escape him entirely and felt his teeth make contact with her hip as she spun. Hyped up on adrenaline as she was, she didn't even feel the pain right away, only the anger that came with being touched against her will. Without thinking, she launched both hind hooves at him, not particularly caring where they struck him, only that they kept him from touching her again.

"Go away!" She snarled over her shoulder as she picked a direction to run, not particularly caring where she was going to go. There was the Peak of course, but she hardly thought of them as saviors, more as a bunch of women that had no real idea what they were doing with their lives. Instead, she angled straight east, to where she thought the falls were. All she needed to do was outrun him, and then she could forget ever meeting this overgrown colt.
