NFL Next Weekend?

The NFL just finished their 3 week preseason. Normally, the season would start next weekend which is Labor Day.

However, it is not starting until Sept. 7th with a Thursday night game with the all the teams kickoff on the following weekend.

Any know why their skipping a week before starting? I know they redid the contracts but I just don’t see the owners giving up the Labor Day weekend for their kickoff. I know they now are saying it is a 16 game schedule over 18 weeks versus 17 weeks in the past.

Any one know what’s behind it?
