hot sugar in the afternoon

Her bright eyes followed the direction in which the stallion had gestured. He made it clear that that was where the Shore -- where Evike -- lay. The excitement in her breath fluttered the mare's nostrils. All her focus was on Evike and her life. It had been that way since the pretty girl had been born. Instead of truly mourning Gunther (the girl's sire), the sooty female had thrown herself into raising her daughter, keeping her safe. Even now, Idoneth gave very little thought to her own happiness and what her life might look like if she stopped long enough to look at it.

The stranger offered to lead her there and promptly turned on his heels to guide the way. A few strides along the way, the intricately-marked male gave his name after asking for her own. The sooty mare lowered her head to dodge of wayward limb. Then, with a smile, she spoke. Her tone was easy and eager, though still a smidge guarded given the circumstances. "I'm called Idoneth." There was no doubt running in her mind that Evike wouldn't be in the neighboring land, perhaps excitedly waiting for when her dam came to visit. She had no reason to worry. Yet. Seeking to pass the short time without an awkward silence, the mare attempted small talk: "Have you live here long, Tyr?"
