Two things. If a person is gifted, or just lucky for being in the right place to find enlightenment, there's nothing wrong with noticing that you see things people aren't you don't. Put another way, if you ARE gifted in some manner, it is pointless to pretend humility.
Maybe you haven't noticed but people successful in vision, or wealth, or skills DO tend to recognize their gifts and appear arrogant or self-confident.
You used the words 'self-righteous.' Thats not the word to discribe my lectures. Did you go to college? When a professor who for whatever reason knows so much more than his students at THEIR stage of life...is he being 'self-righteous' for lecturing them about truths they dont know?
Is that somehow incool, or a flaw in the PROFESSOR's character? Fact is some people by their words, give themselves away as being fifth graders.
The problem with fifth graders, is that THEY are the overconfident ones,for thinking they have nothing to learn from their elders. People gain wisdom over time are the ones who know when to shut up and LISTEN rather than talk! Then THEY are the ones to be the Professor Kingsfields of the world.
False humility and jealousy, and the other emotions are a waste of time. So is all the hatefulness. ITs a waste of your OWN time...you could have been learning new things but feeding your ego seems to be more important to you. Your'e committing mental masturbation. Wise people would say you'd be better off pleasuring yourself LESS and learning more. But whatever gets ya OFF, right?
Too bad people in here don't have the discipline and bravery to identify themselves consistently, so we know who's talking. I learn who to listen to by recognizing their track record, knowing their experiences, most especially by the wise words theyv'e said in the past.
That's not possible in here because people in this room find comfort in hiding and sniping with a scope. Theres no honor in that. Guess I'm old school... the school of Chivalry where real warriors are brave enough face their intellectual foes. So they pretend in here to be pitbulls, when they know deep down, they're just poodles that bark a lot.
