Someobdy here trashes him frequently but he seems to know a lot about the industry. Hey Drew, what's your background? Obviously at least ONE knows who you are. Do the rest of us a favor and call him by HIS name.
We should form a circle, and when it's our turn, say "Hi I'm (so and so) and im a (alchoholic, deejay, old fart, bored op, chyron operator, radio buyer, small market intern or whatever). And then say whats on your mind.
This place is really boring Actually I have come to appreciate the KC market, not as cool as Wichita was back in the day, being the perfect sized market, but, its all amateurs where I moved to.
Every TV story is a commercial except for the police reports they read on the local crimes. You'd think even small market producers would know how to eliminate cop-speak before typing em up for the anchor to do her VO's.
I'm utterly perplexed that Gray TV doesn't train their small market staffs....its just not that hard to send airchecks to the home office for positive critiques to teach all the skills the kids didn't learn in Radio-TV-Film classes! At least at MU, they got out of school with SOME skills.
Even the weather people suck here! I've decided former radio jocks like Dan Henry do weather better than nerdy AMS certified graduates! They have personality.
