you'll never know the beauty I see when you open your shadows
She grazes idly, thick tail batting at her haunches to rid the excess water from the cascade of curled locks. Eyes half lidded, recouping from the swim. She won’t let her guard drop considerably. Drosera always maintains a degree of alertness to her, even if minimally. Being a wayward traveler had forced that habit upon her in her formative years. All movements are subtle, each step anchors to the ground beneath her.
The sound of hastened footfalls is caught by her swiveling ears, and a resonant bellow follows shortly after. The young stallion approaches, and she attentively listens as he speaks to her. From beneath the pale gold of her forelock, her grey eyes scan the stallion with a coat of smoldered embers. She does not immediately pull her head away from her grazing, but does keep her eyes on him as he speak his introduction and relaxes slightly as an offer follows.
After a moment, she lifts her head as she pulls another bite of grass. She chews and swallows it before responding. “Vulcan? How fitting.” The shadow of a smile appears on her muzzle. It’s a rarity to see a full grin from her, but a faint smile is offered for pleasantries. “It’s a pleasure. I’m Drosera.” her voice is rich, slightly gravelly. “I suppose you’re right about the sustenance, or relative lack thereof.” Her eyes drift away from him, wandering their surroundings and taking in the hum of various, distant conversations. “Far be it from for me to deny a bit of adventure.” It was all her heart knew. “Tell me, then, do you have a specific destination in mind?”
