The environment was so different. The day was hot, worse because it was summer, and the nights were the only means of relief outside the few caves in the canyons… but for once Boaz felt quite out of his element. He stands over Jachin and not far off from Nadja (who had taken over from the wetnurse Maia). They’d lost Maia somewhere in the rush to clear out from the insane usurper that’d taken over.
They’d been lucky to track their father, to have his shape to follow to Salem - keeping them safe and a little less terrified than if they’d not been able to stick around him. Boaz had few things in life that could spoil his contented nature, so easily pleased compared to his younger brother. Losing his father would have been too much for his young heart to bear in peace.
He nudges forelock out of Jachin’s sleeping face, his charge utterly unaware of anything passing in this foreign place that steadily rose hotter around them beneath the overgrown shrub that still remained with some greenery to it’s twigs and branches.
