Don't work with Martin, don't know Martin on a personal basis, so neither accusing nor defending him. Apparently the issue is more personal between you and him. But try to use your big boy words instead of resorting to sexual references that apparently are forefront in your mind.
If you are of the belief that one person and one person alone made all of these contractual decisions on a unilateral basis regarding who performed work at the union hall, it would appear that there is a bigger problem to be addressed. You would have us believe that not one other Local 2 officer was involved or questioned this or had to sign off? Martin holds full authority to have the hall remodeled, repaired, refurbished, rebuilt by whoever he wants at whatever price, right? Sure.
But back to the real issue that you seem to agree with but want to deflect from: No excuses, a Local 2 member should not be working one day at any other job in which unionized workers exist - right? So quit worrying about Martin, get on your soapbox at your firehouse and start preaching to your coworkers - no more working outside the firehouse at any job unless working in a union position and paying union dues at that job. That is the official position of the IAFF and Local 2. So, you are obviously concerned about what is happening in the union and at the union hall, so let's go, lead the charge! Once your firehouse is 100%, start working in your battalion and in your district. Be a leader!
And remember - no using any scab brothers or sisters to do any work at your house or your family member's houses. Don't you dare be caught calling any old neighborhood contractor out of the yellow pages or using a brother from the firehouse who "knows what he is doing" when your hot water tank goes out". Nope - you better be using a union truck driver to deliver the new one, a union plumber to install it, a union electrician to connect the power, a union sheet metal worker to install the new vent pipe, a union painter to repair and repaint the wall that got nicked carrying it in, and a union truck driver to haul away the old one. After all, you apparently are a union watchdog!
Get some sleep. Start next shift. I am sure your brothers and sisters are going to really appreciate your union supporting attitude.
