Oswin hummed knowingly as Tyr admitted to missing the days as general. She, too, missed her days as the Peak general. That was as far as she was ever meant to go. Taking on the leadership position in the Peak just wasn’t for her; but the general? That she could do.

Her ear flicked as Tyr’s deep voice rumbled out between them, her dark blue eyes chasing up to admire his handsome profile while he spoke. Something in her softened at the suggestion; though she had never required it, the further proof he offered her that he was the man she was right to entrust her heart to made her fall more and more in love with him. “I suppose I do,” she agreed, but there was something thoughtful in her tone.

“I suppose it’s hard for me to expect those who seek sanctuary here to take the punishment of whatever might follow my actions,” Oswin admitted, looking thoughtfully at him to see what his feelings might be. “And,” she trailed off, the next words catching in her throat. It was here that some bit of doubt entered her eyes, some worry that she often did not show.

It was a topic she had never discussed with Tyr, but surely it was there between them, something they both acknowledged but did not look directly at.

“I am much older than I was when I used to fight the world,” her words were quiet, but they were still said. Accepted. The truth was in every lasting ache she felt, despite the physical condition she kept herself in. “One wrong move in a fight,” she said, sighing as she leaned herself into Tyr, as though to subconsciously rely on the strength that he gave her, even when she had felt her lowest, “I know I won’t heal as easily or as quickly as I had five, ten years ago.”
