As Garmr leaves one winter covered island, he emerges on another. Sullen (although he had not allowed the Luthien stallion to see that), he practically stomps up on the frozen beach. If not for his thick coat, now heavy, laden with water, he might have shivered from the biting wind. Perhaps it was even his anger that kept him warm. Regardless, he shook himself like some of the wolves he had seen in the Lagoon, before setting off further inland.

Without a destination in mind, the draft stallion simply wanders the Crossing Island. He doesn’t seek company, and only stops every once in awhile to uncover some dead grass to eat, then carries on wandering. Others might have called it patrolling, if it was set inside another island territory.

When Garmr comes to the Commons, he is surprised to see the delicate desert mare there alone. The stallion instantly forgets his brooding, intrigued by seeing something so different, and unique than he had thus far seen. At first, he just stands and watches her explore the snow. By her actions, she must find the white powder as new as he finds her. Garmr isn’t a coward, and he certainly isn’t shy, so after he is done inspecting the mare from afar, he decides to get a closer look.

Walking across the open expanse between them, he can’t help but greet her with a twinkle in his green eyes peeking out between damp strands of his thick forelock and a crooked grin. “Pretty, isn’t it?” Garmr said, referring to the snow… or not. “I know of a few places better than this.” With the current Boss of the Lagoon, Garmr already knows his time is extremely limited, and it would be pointless taking this desert beauty back to the Lagoon for Nahawi to let her go. Garmr wanted to know more of this painted filly first, before she was able to slip away.
