DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO TRUTH.
Question after question was shot at Nahawi. His answers were not good enough, that he could see. That was the thing though, no one in their own personal way would ever have the right answers to anything. There was nothing Nahawi could do to change those that did not want to be changed. He would have to work with those that thought of it and seemed to search for it in a way. He might not find ones willing to change easily, but he himself could not change the Lagoon. It would have to be a group effort and it had to start with someone and that someone was him.
Licking his lips, he continued to think, his frame faintly quivering. It was not fear that made him quiver, but just how hard he was thinking. His brain was trying to think through everything at a rate that made him almost grow a headache, but the answer still sat upon his mind like that of a weighted blanket. That answer would not leave him, but he did not really wish to speak it. If he said it out loud, it would show just how weak he was as the Boss. He could not force them to change, which he was sure he was supposed to do. He was young with years to learn and grow still, but he did have one thing older horses did not. He had the will to learn and do the best he could to show that he and the Lagoon was not all bad. There would always be bad seeds in a crop, but that did not make the whole crop bad.
Taking in a shaking breath, Nahawi finally spoke after what felt like eons of standing there thinking. His blue eyes met the stallion once more as his tongue began to move and formulate words that struggled their way out of his throat. “That is the thing. I myself can't change the Lagoon. We, as a whole, have to change the Lagoon. There will always be bad seeds in this place, just like there is anywhere else. I just can say I will do my best to find those willing to change and work with them. It wont be a fast process, but there is always someone willing to learn no matter where you go.”
Nahawi felt like he went on a rant. His blue eyes held a faint inkling of an emotion he did not want to name. He felt like he was drowning in all of these questions, but he would not let them sink him. One thing he knew a leader had to do was stay strong and do their best in any situation. If he showed weakness now, this home would swallow him whole and spit out only his bones. He did not want to go down that way and it made him question just why he ran as the Boss. He wanted to change this place, but he knew now with how everyone just left after he tried to talk to Isengrim that he honestly had a long way to go. Stallions were always going to act on hormones and they would almost always have the upper hand with the need to drive mares home. He just hoped he could teach some of them to find them and hopefully grow a bond before whisking them away like jewelry to the Lagoon and lose them in the jewelry box.
With one last gust of breath, Nahawi spoke again, this time his eyes almost pleading for someone to help him. “I will be the first to say that I need help with this change. I can't do it on my own like I said earlier. I will need help and I ain't afraid to ask someone for it.” There, that was the worst part of this all. Nahawi knew there could be others around listening to him and this would make him seem weak, but he was far from that word. A true leader knew just when to ask for help and do right by those of their home and those outside of it. The Lagoon as it stood was toxic. If they all just tried to do something differently, maybe… just maybe… they wouldn't be seen as ruthless murderers and far darker things.
