The silence that surrounded her was not completely so. The birds that drifted on the winds above liked to call to one another, and the sound of the palms and vegetation rustling with life as small creatures scurried about. The scent of the big, spotted cat did not reach her delicate nose, so she did not worry. The beast that claimed this portion of Atlantis had mostly kept it away, not finding an easy meal under his watch.


When he spoke, it startled her. Her legs froze beneath her instantly, and her ears drew tight atop her crown as they swiveled towards the sound before her eyes followed. Head turning, Nyxx peered into he shadows, barely able to make out his silhouette. It would be easy to think it was nothing more than her imagination. To ignore his question and move on, claiming it was just the remnants of her dream and imagination. But too many times she had wondered where he had gone, and if she was making a mistake by not seeking him out.


Today, she hoped, was not for continued mistakes.


“It is something I choose.” she replied, her mind slow to catch onto his words. He must have seen the company she had been keeping, and it made her wonder, did he seek her out? Or just happenstance? Still, Nyxx cannot help the step she takes closer to him, wishing to see him instead of being shrouded in shadow. “Why are you?”
