She had followed him for some time, but from a distance and within the shadows cast by the thickly grown jungle vegetation. There was no specific reason she had, only that he meandered past her earlier on and the look across his face had roused her curiosity. These days she was having trouble feeling much of anything, but one look at the young spotted roan stallion told her he was feeling quite a lot.

Poppy wondered what that was like.

When he stopped at the ocean, she stopped too, still far from him and only just able to see his outline against the sea spread out before him. Her dark-tipped ears flicked forward, then back, then forward again. There were no other smells at this side of the territory, just hers and his. The ferns rustled around her dark legs - some faintly splattered with the white roan that speckled across her dunskin coat - as she started to move forward. Poppy did not whinny or nicker as her figure stepped outside of the jungle; he would’ve heard the leaves brushing her body and the branches shaking as they caught across her skin and were released the further forward she went. She expected him to turn and look at her or wait for her to approach him entirely before he acknowledged her.

She was young, barely two in just under a week’s time; her coat smelled of Atlantis, maybe the Shore in particular if one had to narrow it down, but it caught the perfume of so much of the jungle isle she seemed more a child of the island itself than any one territory. She was already quite tall (though not as tall as he was), but wasn’t yet grown to her full height. She still had a few feet to go. Too, when she passed four, her muscles would begin growing a bit thicker; at the moment she appeared slender, more akin to the faint desert horse blood in her lineage.

Poppy stopped near him, just out of reach even if he stretched his neck - though, if she stretched hers, their muzzles could bump and breaths could be shared. The young mare sized him up somewhat suspiciously, looking across his face before she softly asked “Who are you?”
