Time of day is certainly important. As several people have observed, even back in the day, there would be a mass exodus at Dania eve performances, as if to get home in time to watch the 11 o'clock news.
But aside from that, I think that the concept of 'visibility' can be a factor. By that I mean how easily people can spot a standout from the program pages. Hard to prove without data, but it should be possible to create an algo to objectively rate games based on that variable. And then attempt a correlation.
However, since I don't track the pool amounts, I am off the project. Replies:
