Garmr expected the mother to hurry the foal along with how the merciless waters were rising. Instead, she bowed up at him, clearly on the verge of attacking him instead. What was this dumb bitch doing? Didn’t she care about her child? Garmr’s ears pinned immediately, about to give her a few choice words for her stupidity, when the apparent father arrived. Swooping in to save the day, Garmr was left on that tiny spit of sinking land alone. Watching as they made their way through the water and to safety. If there was ever a lesson to be learned, this one was certainly going to be burned to memory.


With a huff and a clearly annoyed expression on his young face, Garmr traipsed through the waters after the family. They had already made it across before he had even gone halfway, since he was in no hurry on his own. Instead, the stallion marveled at how the flood waters pulled at his heavily feathered legs and drew his tail to the side. He knew he could never be as strong as the current that pushed against his side, but one day he hoped to try and match it.


As Garmr stepped free of the flood water, he shook himself off before giving a sideways glare at what he considered to be the most ungrateful family he had ever met. He should have just watched them drown like he had wanted to do when he had first spotted them. Placing himself against nature’s harsh elements clearly wasn’t worth it; not for anyone.


Grumpily, Garmr turned away and prowled back towards the meadows for higher, and hopefully drier ground.
