Have the current players play the existing courts backwards and see what happens.
The point being that there have been unlimited opportunities to try the lefty idea out, albeit symmetrically.
So it doesn't have to purely hypothetical. It may have already been tried many times before.
An additional observation would be that outdoor no-sidewall courts would seemingly present no pressure for players to play right only. So it follows that historically some players might have wanted to play lefty on those. And in that case, if they had been allowed to play lefty, and were highly proficient at it, then they would expect, maybe demand, a very solid reason for being prohibited when playing on left-sidewall courts.
