let me be brave

ooc: I know quite a bit has changed since this thread was set to take place, so if you'd rather we don't continue it, it's totally okay! but in case you still wanted to write out what happened, I thought I'd throw up a reply!!

Oswin had never been the perfect mother (though she’d done better with her sons than she had her daughters, oddly enough) but she had been one enough times to keep an eye on a child going where they shouldn’t.

The Ridge queen had been drinking from the fresh jungle river when she caught sight of the flash of white and then the scent that trailed it shortly thereafter. She knew the young girl was named Rosalina, but little else aside from her mother. There was no accompanying scent or appearance of an adult going after her, which definitely meant she’d just left home alone. Not only that, but she was making her way toward the direction of Paradise, where it seemed a trouble-making mare was beginning to situate herself, given that she’d come after Oswin not too long ago. Oswin still felt somewhat irritated that she hadn’t been able to fight for herself during that; she would’ve liked to give a few hard kicks to whoever thought they might snatch her away like some prize.

She started off in Rosalina’s wake and by the time she came upon the young girl, she caught sight of her exchanging breaths with the very mare she’d just been thinking of. Oswin’s ears flicked as she surveyed the scene, catching the copper tint of blood and worrying before she noticed there were no injuries across Rosalina’s hide. The blood was coming from the large, scarred mare. Oswin’s eyes regarded her somewhat suspiciously.

“Rosalina,” she spoke to the girl, her voice not necessarily mean, but quite firm, “Go back to the Ridge. You’re not meant to stray without company or permission.” True, Oswin didn’t know if Rosalina had gotten permission, but given the girl’s penchant to wander off, she had a feeling she hadn’t. Even while she spoke to the young girl, though, Oswin did not take her eyes away from Siren’s Symphony. She was steady on the mare, waiting to see what it was she intended to do.

oswin
this is as brave as I know how to be.
I know it’s gonna hurt you, but please… be a little proud of me.
