PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

▻ none (x none) ◅

Part of her felt she’d betrayed them. All of them. Everyone.

Her mother, father, her sisters, her people. Her friends here, her training, her one-time purpose. The power that she’d wielded had been amazing to feel, to witness. Her father’s own cooperation when it had threatened the Dunes’ security… all of it had also, however, shown her that she could not dare return to that power. Her opinions had meant more than the individual reality. The heady knowledge that you were backed by power, and possessed your own power too… she could not risk becoming the very dangerous leader that her father and uncles had described in stories of home.

She preferred the warmth, yes, but wasn’t the peak warm in summer? Before the mare’s departure, she’d asked one Tarot to read her through the leylines. Fire, she was told, was burning so bright within her that to match it to the fire of the Dunes was to court disaster. It had finalized her decision to drag her beloved here, to beg him to match her in even this sad change.

Always, Tarot had told her, seek a place devoid of fire but not devoid of warmth. The Peak was perhaps not precisely the best of places - but it would be a sufficient start. Perhaps one day she would venture out, take Yil with her and see the world and find the place that subdued the fire in her blood but did not dampen too much the spirit.

She stands like a red beacon on one of the green slopes, grazing, pondering the meaning of portents and casting lots.
