Caitlin Clark (3,569 points) is on her way to setting the all time NCAA basketball scoring record. She's the all time leading Women's scorer, unless you count Pearl Moore (4,061 points) who played for tiny Francis Marion College in SC or Lynetee Woodard (3,649 points) who holds the major college basketball record playing at Kansas. And honestly I don't know why you wouldn't count someone who played at Kansas simply because it pre-dated the NCAA as the sanctioning body.
But I want to talk about Pete Maravich. Pete scored 3,667 points in his career playing at LSU. He played at a time when freshmen weren't eligible so he did all of his scoring in 3 years. He also played without the benefit of a 3 point line. Some estimates are he would have scored over 4,500 points with the 3 point shot.
So hats off to Caitlin, but when she "breaks" Pistol Pete's scoring record in 2 or 3 more games, in my mind I'm going to be saying naah, not even close. Replies:
