I want your heart on a platter claim

Oh, you want battle?
I'll give you war.

Garmr's rule had filled the Lagoon with a new sense of passion, or at least, it had filled me with a renewed sense of passion. Going with the black beast to attempt to raid Nahawi had been exhilarating, even though it had ended on a rather anticlimactic note. It turned out the dun wasn't any more exciting as a herd stallion than he had been as a Lagoon boss and that raiding, by itself, was as likely to be droll and boring as anything else was.

Still, I had learned valuable lessons while at Garmr's side, and had a new appreciation for my place in the Lagoon. I hadn't yet found a mare that I particularly wanted for myself but that wasn't the point. The point was that I wanted the clearance to bring one home the moment I saw fit to, especially now that autumn had reached the isles and my mind was spinning with all sorts of possibilities.

This, of course, had led me to wishfully stalking the Commons more often than note and I had been seriously eyeing a pretty painted thing before the large champagne dude walked in front of me. I pulled up short and eyed him for a second, tempering my immediate annoyance with recognition of the opportunity. There would be other pretty things, but there might not be another easily nabbable stallion that wouldn't require me to get all roughed up just for them to be a sourpuss like Leukos.

"Hey there," I greeted, having made my decision in the space of a stride. He, like so many others in this godforsaken place, towered above me, just like the gray stallion in the Shore. "You looking for someplace to go?" I forced a smile to my lips, but smiling wasn't particularly natural for me and I wasn't sure if it managed to look genuine or not. "The Lagoon could use more stallions willing to be the change they want to see in the world."

Or something like that.

With Garmr in charge, I was pretty certain of the direction the Lagoon was headed in, and it was a good one, but I didn't really want to explain all of that to him now. Especially with the sound of more hoofbeats fast approaching. That alone stopped me from trying to dart in and drive the fluffy-legged giant toward the Lagoon and kept me purely pleasant, for now. I needed to make my case convincing, and make it quick, because if this got physical, I wasn't sure I had the skills yet to hold my own against Gigantor and whoever else was coming up.
