my bad habits lead to you

She kept a watchful eye to the sky above, but could not help but skim the outskirts of the land she found herself in. From the stories she had heard, the Commons were a place where the homeless came to find homes, and while Avarice wasn't entirely certain she could call herself homeless (her mother would have absolutely objected and pointed out she could return hom to the Mainland at any time), she certainly didn't know anyone here. Or even know of the places one could go here, apart from the Crossing. She knew vaguely of the Peak, for the mares, and the... the swamp? She couldn't really remember what the all-boys place was called but that didn't really matter anyway.

She wasn't a boy, so she wouldn't be going there.

She spots the handsome red dun before he speaks, and lets a determined but nervous grin fit her lips as her head lifts. Ava only nods as he gets closer, letting him settle where he was comfortable. As he speaks, her heart thrums eagerly, only for her eagerness to wilt as he offers no flattery or interest, only a statement of his name and a heavy expectation for her to do the same. What was this? Where was her prince charming? The pretty words and lacquered promises her mother had warned her about. She'd even settle for the other kind of stallion her mother had mentioned, the kind that was pushy and rude, if only so she could feel like they were a little interested in her.

Stormclouds, not unlike the ones above, roll across her eyes, and the tips of her ears tuck back against her curly locks, her head lifted in agitation. "Good for you?" She answers, the words losing some of their haughty edge to a question at the end. For all of her bluster, Ava was still young and still attempting something well out of her comfort zone for the first time. The arrival of the second was now met with suspicion, especially when he, too, offered nothing in the way of flattery or praise. He at least, offers to take her somewhere, although 'a place to keep them both dry' was hardly descriptive.

Stubbornly, she sets both of her dark forehooves and looks expectantly at the new arrival. "And where would that be?" Moments ago, Ava had been hopeful that she'd be able to find someone who would woo her, charm her, whisk her off her feet so that she could forget all about abandoning her mother. Someone she could trot off with into the sunset. But her mood had soured in an instant, and the willing, complacent girl she had entered as had been replaced by the hard-headed woman her mother was so frustrated with. Only time would tell if they could (or would even want to) find the right buttons to push to make her change back.
