Desert

She goes somewhere for a moment, the look in her eye different somehow, as if too many possibilities were colliding in her mind at once. He waited, lips plying against her skin, eyes patiently on her face, an ear tilted toward their brand-new son. He waited because she was worth waiting for, no matter what her past lovers had thought. He waited because, for now, she still held his power in the grasp of her hand. Whatever he had now, he had because of her. Whatever he gained would be for them both.

"We will," he murmured in assent, withdrawing slightly so that the bold little colt would have room to nurse. His gaze rested on the boy for a moment before rising back to Nyimara, the faraway expression in her eyes gone. He didn't know what she had been thinking about, but he wondered if it had anything to do with him, or if she was too busy plotting her moves three years in advance.

"Where do you want me to begin?" He asked when she was done, curious as to what she had in mind. She had captured the Cove, captured him in giving it up, and had ended up (seemingly) where she'd wanted to be all along. She had his older sister and nephew imprisoned, a fact that should have made him feel guiltier than it did. As it was, he did take extra care to watch over her when she was nearby, but they both knew that Kohelet had made her choices and that the colt at her side as much a vice grip around Fell's balls as was the tobiano mare herself.

And then there was, of course, Quinn and Kara both whom were still here and ready to do her bidding as well. Or, well, Kara was. In truth, Asmodeus wasn't sure where Quinn was or what he was doing these days, and he didn't care the know. The more distance between his rival and Nyimara, the better.
