Re(1): What I really need here

I knew you were the man for the job Craig G! I will PayPal you some beer money if you figure it all out! Or maybe some University's Physics department can weigh in. It would make a good thesis paper.

As you said, if the 14 segments at MC are evenly spaced, then they are approximately 8.5714285714285714285714285714286 ft long.

The 14 segments at Dania should be approximately 12.857142857142857142857142857143 ft long.

As you said, it is a complex problem with many situational possibilities. If I were to simplify it, I would have 2 players (a thrower and a catcher) visit each Fronton and stand at specific distances from the Front wall. Then I would measure with a speed gun and video, many throws to get the average time from the Front wall to the catch, at various distances, with the 2 different balls. In theory, it should at least tell us which ball is faster bouncing off each surface both initially and over time. But none of that takes into account the effects of diagonal and height distances.

I do not know which ball bounces faster on which surfaces, both initially and over time. Would not a heavier ball carry more momentum and a lighter ball have more drag?

I still think that even with a faster ball, in general, the longer and wider court of Dania would mean that you would have more time to prepare for and set up the catch, unless you were standing very close to the front wall. But the steeper possible angles might make some catches harder. And all that extra space is surely harder to defend as well.

I don't know! My brain is starting to frizzle. =ꟼ That is why I need smarter people like you Craig G, who stayed off the Ganja and paid attention in High School! =p
