my bad habits lead to you

In truth, it wasn't that she disliked either of them. The red dun was handsome and seemed kind, but he also seemed like he had no idea what he was doing here when she didn't immediately roll over and proclaim her love for him. The other, the white-flecked one, seemed handsome as well, although it felt - so far - like his decision to approach had been more motivated by the first stallion than by her.

And she objected to that on principle.

What had inspired her attitude was the fact that neither of them had made her feel special, and much like a human's wedding day, a mare's commmon's day was the only day where she was more or less guaranteed a few bits of flattery and admiration... unless they, of course, ended up with a real monster. A monster she could fight against. Apathy, however, made her feel like she was fighting her way out of a wet paper bag.

Avarice raised her gaze back to the red dun as he began to speak about the purpose of the other stallion, and she hummed in acknowledgement of his words and then waited expectantly for him to say something to her, or about her, or even some witty quip... but nothing came. Her pride stung at the implication that she was 'just a mare,' and it wounded her more than she wanted to admit. If he didn't think she was anything special, why the hell had he bothered to approach? Nahawi seemed defeated without even bothering to put up a fight and that fire in her eyes flared in indignance and she turned her gaze back to the other stallion, ears twitching further back against her poll. Nahawi's warning rang in her ears, and she mulled over the little tidbits she'd learned so far. The Lagoon must be the all-men's area, then. Ava had to admit that nothing about it sounded appealing. Not the muck or the mud or the fact that it would be full of men.

Then again, it wasn't like she was being offered a plethora of choices, either.

To her surprise and delight, the grullo launched immediately into the sort of flattery that she felt she deserved and her stubborn frown cracked into a shy grin. Avarice was really not that hard to figure out. She was young and a touch naive, hopeful and eager, but also stubborn and with more than her fair share of attitude. The thought that this little snowflake stallion might abandon his whole way of life to take her to someplace she deserved sounded incredibly romantic. And for her, even a little flattery and interest in her went a very long way. "Oh?" She echoed with a playful smirk. "You'd run away with me?"
