Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

The mare's dark eyelashes fluttered in a rush against the feeling of his warm breath washed over her wet cheek. Her muscles, tensed at his proximity, drooped with exhaustion when his head lifted up and away. She watched the stallion with dismay when he made no moves to give her space. Instead, he stood quite still and looked at the trees around them. Vervain's eyes never left him, and, after what felt like immeasurably long minutes, his blue eyes crept back to hers. His eyes felt heavy on her skin, as if the weight of his stare could truly bore holes if he looked long enough. Vervain could hardly stand the feeling of being pinned like an unlucky bug or wounded bird; it made her feel small and panicked.

When he answers, it is a single word. It was quietly spoken and surprisingly devoid of more impassioned emotion. "Mine." It carried the weight and finality of stone to the young mare. He was sure that she would never leave, and that stunted her tender hopes. She wondered if he was right to think so after all. Vervain further wilted from him as her muscles finally lost all their strength. Her eyes twisted back up to him, dark honey in the fading light. The mare wanted to tell him that he was wrong, that she didn't belong to him or to anyone else. but Vervain was too weak from the toll of the day and the journey to fight anything anymore. Her head rested back on the grounds her eyes shut and shed silent tears.
