A lot of people are excited about the hire. He was captain of the 1996 Wildcats ncaa champs. I think the hope is for some sort of John Schyer @ Duke or Hubert Davis @ UNC success. The difference to me is these guys were on staff at those schools a while before taking over.
I don’t like the hire and I hope he proves me wrong. On paper he is everything UK fans had been hoping for. Good Xs and Os Coach whose players stay in the program a few years. Runs a modern offense.
I just don’t see how you offer Hurley in the morning and hire Pope 12 hours later. Seems like a hasty decision without considering other options.
