VOICE OF THE PEOPLE.

The rain of a spring morning caught the attention of a lone mare. Eyes of a vibrant blue glared towards the distance, but salty sweat lines ran down her sides, neck, and around her cheeks. Panting breaths could be heard over the downpour, but with where she hid herself no one would be able to lay claim to her solitude.

Rolling around until she got comfortable, Snapdragon heaved many a haggard breath before finally groaning and flopping onto her side. She had been here for hours, her labor being difficult with what she had to guess being from this as her first time. Her pale coat was soaked through with rain and steaming with sweaty heat, but she kept herself from screaming out as pain encompassed her abdomen and other areas. Her blue eyes held a steady emotion of fear, but she contained herself just long enough to hold out and have her pale daughter. It wasn't long after her difficult labor that the pale mare rose on shaking legs.

Standing there in the light of morning, Snapdragon eyes her daughter. The filly was a buckskin with a blanket, but built thickly. Snapdragon knew the filly wasn't going to end up super tall, but the darling little thing held the bone of her great grandfather and it had Snapdragon heaving out a breath before she lipped the youngsters ears, the filly having eaten her full and dozing off already. It had been difficult for both mother and child, but a soft smile graced Snapdragon’s eyes before they closed and she rested in the stillness of their hidden burrow of jungle trees and vines.
