Re(4): College Grads in the New World

Not at all...I've been on the government dole now for 15 years. There's actually a lot of jobs that have shitty hours, none worse that getting up in the middle of the night or going home in the middle of the night.

Doing mornings in radio is greatly overrated! I did the 4am wakeup for many years--it kills your evenings when you have to go to bed early. You miss out on a lot. I don't know how TV weathermen do it...work til 10:30pm and get up in the morning to do AM radio. So does second shift in health care, or rotating 12's where you're living a jet lag life trying to be up daytime for family and working til 7:30 in the morning.

The only thing that's almost tolerable is when one's working late, both parents get to daycare a shift and just work around school hours.

And in TV, the 5p to 10:30p trick destroys family life. Course most of them are pretty nerdy and don't have lives anyway.

You can expect those working prime time media hours don't have time or inclination to write on message systems. Why bother when they reach a hundred thousand people or more every day!

How important is 'live' versus 'Memorex?' Meh!
