Outer Wastelands

The Outer Wasteland is the desert-like terrain that surrounds Midgar for several miles out from the towering metropolis. The cause of this phenomenon is well known and widely ignored. Since Shinra Electric Company draws Mako from the Planet, all of the plant life and foliage has wilted away. Since nobody stays out here long and there is no vegetation, monsters rarely stick around. The few that do are usually deadly and high leveled.

Jagged cliffs and sandy dunes make up the Outer Wasteland, so travel by Chocobo is recommended.
