Hey Bill - No I was not the flight attendant, but I seemed to remember, very vaguely, that I was not particularly popular with the flight crew on that trip...actually, my buddy and I were starting a 2-month backpacking trip through Europe...and we partied with you guys (or a sampling of you guys) during the flight...to be honest, I cannot recall who I was partying with...but after several trips to the head to get rid of the brews and to partake in unmentionables, I do not think some of you slept that night. I am not sure how, but I had heard of you guys - my roommate from college used to share a practice space with Billy Corgan in Chicago, so I was well tuned-in to the music scene in Chicago and I had heard of you through him. About three months after that, I was in the Peace Corps in Kenya...the following year, I received a tape of "Let Me Come Over". I resisted the temptation to contact you guys with the annoying - "Hey, remember me!" back in the 90s even while I was owner of a club in SF called the Crash Palace...had folks like the Counting Crows and Hootie play there (my buddy I was traveling with lived with and is still close with Mark and Dean at South Carolina and my ex went to high school with them in Maryland, so I had a connection without resorting to some obscure night 5 miles above the Atlantic). So now I am 41 and you guys have a new (relatively) album out (which I must admit, I heard a cut on the radio - cannot recall which song or which station...wasn't there an NPR story on the band about then, too?), which I did not purchase, but don't worry, I did not download ripped copies either...don't know which is worse, right? I came across your site and figured I would try to touch base. No favors asked. I am working on my PhD in environmental engineer at the University of Florida amidst running a barely-living engineering firm and an international non-profit that works with underprivileged communities in the US and abroad. Single, no kids, in bed before Letterman (which means like 11 pm these days), then up with the sun to do it again. Just always enjoyed Buffalo Tom and figured I'd touch base. So, instead of working on my dissertation this evening, I re-checked your site and saw a reply. Sorry about the chicken...I was thinking about anything but food during that flight, myself. Interestingly, we did not catch your show(s) while there, but I did see Green on Red perform in London about a week after we got there. Good show. I think one of them died not too long ago...but I might have dreamed that. I see a date in Boston in a few weeks...would love to see you guys play if you are even down south. I will actually be visiting my dad in RI in the middle of August and will check to see if there is a show around then. If you would, do me a favor and check with Chris and Tom and see if this rings a bell for them. Something tells me it was Chris, but I was probably breaking a dozen laws during that flight and my memory has faded. Thanks for the reply and good luck.
