From early morning until early afternoon yesterday, an apparent Eurasion Collared-Dove was calling in and around our yard in Victoria Road. I haven't heard it since then. I had good looks at it, and saw its overall pale Mourning-Dove- size body, and the black collar on the back of its neck. I couldn't see its underparts, so can't rule out the Ringed Turtle-Dove. In either case, what a cool bird! I hope that others find it so we can be sure what it is.
Its call is 3 notes, with a dovelike quality but faster and more incessant than a Mourning Dove. The form of the call reminded me of a quiet rooster: "cookadoo!" Replies: There have been no replies.
