The air is filled with dragonflies these days. I guess I should say odonates since I'm pretty sure I saw an ebony jewelwing unless there is another black-winged odonate.
I wish I could have retained more about these creatures from the dragonfly counts I've done with Bob Bowles and Richard Aaron.
But the majority of these guys are almost as big as the hummingbirds and moving too quickly for me to get much in the way of details. I've definitely seen some white faces and some brilliant green eyes, mostly as they fly straight for my head.
Yesterday I cut paths in the long grass that makes up my lawn and was surrounded by at least a hundred diving and darting dragonflies. Replies: There have been no replies.
