There are 2 jobs posted: # 1100739 which is Full Time (Wednesday thru Sunday from 7 A.M. till 3 P.M.) and number 1001095 which is Part Time (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 P.M. till 7 A.M). Both positions pay around $10.75 per hour. In addition, the part time role may be entitled to a shift differential. The full time position also has full benefits. Both positions are located at Raymond James Financial corporate headquarters here in St. Pete.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, uses intermediate level knowledge and skills obtained through experience and training to perform shift work at an assigned post to ensure a safe, functional environment for employees and visitors and to protect life and property. May assist in training others in security policies and procedures. Specific, detailed instructions and procedures are provided to perform routine, repetitive standardized tasks. Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to a higher level. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain or provide information and maintain a secure environment. Work is performed nights and weekends and other irregular hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Patrols assigned buildings and grounds to deter arson, theft, vandalism and other acts of crime detrimental to life and property.

· Maintains a constant vigil of immediate working area and outside parking area to identify unusual activities and unsafe conditions, if assigned.

· Monitors all employees, visitors and parcels entering and departing the building; verifies approved entry by vendors and other visitors; maintains visitor logs; and issues and retrieves temporary visitor badges.

· Investigates and records reported incidents and unusual circumstances and documents investigative steps, times and results.

· Records all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.

· Checks vehicles for parking authorization and determines if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, driveways or visitor, reserved or handicap parking and issues written warnings and/or parking tickets, as required.

· Observes employees going to and from parking areas during hours of darkness and performs physical escorts upon request.

· Assists motorists who become stranded on the property, using discretionary judgment to determine course of action. May volunteer to change tires, jump start dead batteries or unlock vehicle doors.

· Assists with medical emergencies by providing comfort, routine first aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), if certified and trained, and may assist ambulance emergency medical technicians (EMTs), on a voluntary basis and using discretionary judgment.

· Serves as a member of the fire control team and responds to all fire, burglary and equipment alarms and related emergencies.

· Issues building keys and security access cards.

· Assists, as directed, with special events or emergencies.

· Maintains contact with other security guards by means of radio or telephone communications and logs all activity during assigned shift and records and passes on pertinent information to the next shift.

· Acquires and maintains knowledge of required phone listings and directories and the operation of alarm panels and systems, cameras, monitoring equipment and mechanical rooms and other designated rooms or areas.

· Assists in recommending additions and/or changes in security methods and procedures to management.

· Identifies and provides first level response to threats in the workplace such as bombs or acts of terrorism, including immediate analysis of the threat, evacuation plans, physical search and notification of appropriate entities.

· Performs routine inspections and monitors buildings and grounds to assure conformance with established security standards and safety regulations.

· Assists in coordinating fire prevention activities, including inspections of extinguishers and hoses, and the coordination of fire drills and follow-up activities.

· Documents and reports security incidents and possible violations of security to law enforcement agencies.

· Maintains currency in security measures.

· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

· Intermediate level concepts, principles and practices in providing corporate security.

· Security system requirements and laws pertaining to security, law enforcement and investigative techniques.

· Recognition and detection of dangerous substances and devices.

· Crowd management and control techniques.

· Fire protection codes and standards.



Skill in:

· Inspecting buildings and grounds for conformance with security requirements and safety regulations.

· Identifying and responding to fire, theft, vandalism and other acts of crime detrimental to life and property.

· Identifying and investigating unusual activities and unsafe conditions.

· Courteously monitoring arrivals and departures of employees and visitors, verifying approved entry and maintaining complete and accurate logs.

· Controlling parking and traffic.

· Changing tires, jump starting dead batteries and unlocking vehicle doors.

· Assisting with medical emergencies.

· Maintaining records of security activities.

· Using radio and telecommunications equipment.

· Performing routine inspections of buildings and grounds.

· Assisting fire prevention coordinator.

· Preparing and maintaining required documentation.

· Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

· High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in law enforcement, military police or related security field.

Licenses/Certifications:

· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required prior to and during employment (must be approved by company’s insurance carrier); may be required depending on employment location.

· Class D Security License or ability to obtain if required by state law in which employed.

· CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain
