In Wigan it best to use the Daily Mirror cut into pieces and hanging from a bent piece of wire in the outside privy. I don't think even the lure of David Cameron would have overcome the natural reluctance to use glossy paper. Mind you in the Reeks it was de rigeur to use spagnum moss or a bit of heather at a pinch.
