Thank you a hundred fold for turning out in record number to run the Fall Frolic. The Weather Gods answered our prayers and delivered the most beautiful day! We had 37 runners in the 12.3km and 90 in the 4.6km. Total amount raised was 1195.00 (one runner paid after the race was over). Dave, the manager at the Souris Coop, surprised us all when he donated 1200.00 to the Fall Frolic. His plan was to MATCH the total raised UP TO 1200.00! We certainly planned that well! Thank you Souris Coop and Manager David!!
I spoke to Billy Gallant, MacIntyre House Manager. He asked that I pass this along. The money raised at the Fall Frolic for the past 12 years has gone into a recreation account for the men....allowing them to "frolic a wee bit too!" This money allows them trips to the pool, bowling, movies, etc. The "rec fund " made possible by runners like you covers these outings up until August of the following year. I hope that fact amazes you as much as it amazes me. Not only does the Fall Frolic raise much needed money, but also it raises awareness of individuals with physical and mental challenges.
Thank you to the registration crew~ Janet, Deborah and Jamie; to the town of Souris~ Shelly and Emberlee; to the Souris Coop~David and staff; to the Department of Forestry~Kevin, Peter, Reg, Brian and the boys for a wonderful and lengthy partnership with the PEI Roadrunners, and especially to you~the runners~who make the trek east for the past 13 years, despite the demands on your time. Your kind comments, your smiles and thank you’s permeate the New Harmony wood lot from year to year. You make it a success. Roosevelt said, “Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.”
