Re(4): Postponements

Ho hum Tony yes it could. I've already made the point about football matches. It wasn't felt to be in line with the spirit of the league so we don't ask anymore we just play with whoever is available. A couple of seasons ago we were forced to concede two games because of people being away during school holidays amongst other reasons. They were the only two games we didn't win in almost two years across all three competitions. That's just how it goes.

I think most people would agree that Martin is the best player in the league. Shortly before Christmas he had a death in his immediate family and was naturally unavailable at short notice. We played and lost. It's just what happens.

On the other hand a couple of years ago The Historymen's WIST opponents couldn't raise a team on the scheduled day and offered to concede. Ivor & Co wouldn't hear of it, insisted on a postponement and won on the rearranged date proving that virtue is not necessarily its own reward.

Nobody is suggesting that Mike wasn't informed or that there was anything untoward. It's just that the general feeling is that we don't really do those sort of postponements anymore.
