Mike,
Cougar kittens have a spotted coat, not a sriped coat. Although, as they grow those spots go away. A cougar the size of the animal you photographed would most likely have lost all of their spots on their coat (It doesn't take long). And again, the facial structure is not similar at all to that of a mountain lions. Also, if this were a very young cougar, it probably would have been accompanied by it's much larger mother.
