To add to what Ray (Weather) has already posted regarding this very interesting sighting I will say that he did a fantastic job obtaining the original images, ground proofing the location, interviewing the witnesses, and sharing much more detailed data with others of us looking at this topic closely.
What we seem to know for sure is this is a cat larger than a Bobcat that has a long tail. It is a very beautiful animal, and I truly hope we have another sighting and photos.
I am posting a photo we used off the originals to demonstrate the tail from the background. It places by image copy two identical images of the cat side by side for comparison. If you look at the image on the right, and the area to the right rear of the cat the tail is highlighted by a thin red line.
Other images of the cat when it is crouching, show this highlighted area to move in relation to the cat indicating it was not a fixed object on the ground. Thus consistent with the photographer and other witnesses it seems to have a substantially long tail.
