there are now 5 pirate factions. wahey!
new addition to the board: alliances and rivals. to update your alliances/rivals, post on updates. you can rival other factions by challenging them, or ally with them.
factions can be challenged for anything - status, booty, out of boredom, whatever.
the most powerful faction is listed on the reside page as the leading faction on the island. currently this is the nightshade faction. any faction can challenge the leading faction for their position. allied factions can back each other in faction wars, and temporary alliances can be formed. if you have the same amount of members as the leading faction and you want to challenge them, it's a good idea to seek temporary allies who'll support you first.
